Jean Ghalo Blog Where it all begins!

Life Behind The Screen, "Backstage"

Let me say it in the other way round.

Some people assume they know what I do in life. They could be right or they could be wrong. On the other hand other people have no idea what I do and perhaps they do not care. What I really do is I Blog often and post some personal stuff on my blog. Even though my English is not that perfect I still try to blog to the best I can and deliver what I really mean in any subject that I know best whether it is personal, business related, social media, photography, or any other topic.

Daily Schedule & Living Income

Let’s start with this question. How many of you know what I do daily?

Jean GhaloAs a co-founder and Business Developer Director (BDD) of bobnbab Ltd. It is top priority to keep company expansion a top priority. I also continuously work on developing new businesses, especially in the current economy crisis. My company- BobnBab Ltd.- is an advertising agency catering for the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region, serving more than 30 clients over 2 years. Created Solid and effective branding and brand identities to leading companies. Offering from below the line to above the line services in the Advertising industry. All of this made the company one of the fastest growing advertising agencies in the region. This made me dedicate most of my time to running it since I depend on it for 90% of my income and that makes it the backbone that I live from.

My other focus during the day is Research & Development. I believe the key to success is to keep myself up to date on new markets, new industries and new products. For this I extensively use the web for the research, Blogging, feeds reading and communication with people I know and people who are in the same industry.

BeirutNightLife s.a.r.l. (BNL) was another company founded by myself in 2003. It was the number one entertainment and tourist online portal in the MENA region till war broke out in Lebanon in 2006. Since then, and due to the political unrest that followed BNL suffered like any other industry in Lebanon and was forced to ideal for several years. BNL managed to survive the last few years and is now going through a facelift stage to become your daily visited web addresses and most used online API.

With the little time I have left I spend online; I do work hard on building connections whether through twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or through my Personal Blog (jean.ghalo.com). This is also the time I spend making the income balance of 10% which is nicely increasing day after day. People might wonder what making money over the net is all about or they might wonder if it is few dollars a day or $10s or even $100s per day. Well, here I would like to reassure you that through out my life I intend to wisely spend my time and money and to this I mean a ROI that is rewarding and satisfactory by all means. Some people might make fun of the idea of making money over the net while others will find it interesting and amusing how this is possible but let me tell you the income generated is well over the normal average income an employee earns a month.

To learn more about Online Money Making keep an eye on the blog related section.

2009 Goals & Milestones

My goals for 2009 are as follows; keep up BobnBab doing great results despite everything going in economy, focusing on new markets. Re-launch for BeirutNightLife, which will be taking much more of my daily time.

google phone G1 in dubai uae

Online Business and social media are going to have a major increase and more focus in 2009, as I will try to have at least 365 blog posts, with 1 blog post on daily average. Twitter followers should reach a certain target, in order to share the information and reach the maximum number of benefiters. YouTube is going to have a good part also. The birth of a new “Blogs Network” which will cover many topics for different industries is one of my targets, as the year will be for sharing and providing the maximum number of information to my connections, followers, and the world.

And Now?

You know more about me, my daily schedule. Much more about my personality.

Do I have a personal life? Do I go out with my friends? Am I married? Want to know more that I forgot to mention? Ok let’s share it in the comments and will be posting replies to all your questions.

Will you keep on coming to this blog?

As Chris says: “The point isn’t the post. It’s entirely the comments. Come play and think.”

Windows 7 "10 Tips, Tweaks and Secrets"

It's true that I am a Mac user, but that doesn't mean I don't know what is going in the industry while other systems like Windows are trying to fix their selves. We all heard that Windows 7 will replace the Vista crappy OS, and earlier in January MS did release the BETA version of Win 7 to the public, too many downloads to test and find out the large number of bugs for sure and the results were in gathering the 10 most important things. Windows 7 is fast, stable and far more reliable than we'd expect from a first public beta, but it doesn't include major new features, take the time to explore and you'll find lots of useful changes that will make a real difference in how you use your PC.

Like any version of Windows there are various tips, tweaks and hacks you can perform to get your PC working the way you want it.

Here's our first guide on how to get the most from your Windows 7 installation.

1. Protect your MP3 files
Along with many good new features, the Windows 7 beta also includes a nasty bug. Its version of Windows Media Player 12 will automatically add missing metadata, including album art, and this can overwrite the first few seconds of the file. Oops. Installing an update may fix this (seehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/961367) but it would be a very good idea to back up your MP3 files, too.

Windows 7 Wallpaper2. Right-click everything
At first glance Windows 7 bears a striking resemblance to Vista, but there's an easy way to begin spotting the differences - just right-click things.

Right-click an empty part of the desktop, for instance, and you'll find a menu entry to set your screen resolution. No need to go browsing through the display settings any more.

Right-click the Explorer icon on the taskbar for speedy access to common system folders: Documents, Pictures, the Windows folder, and more.

And if you don't plan on using Internet Explorer then you probably won't want its icon permanently displayed on the taskbar. Right-click the icon, select "Unpin this program from the taskbar", then go install Firefox, instead.

3. Fix the taskbar
The new Windows 7 taskbar acts as one big quick launch toolbar that can hold whatever program shortcuts you like (just right-click one and select Pin To Taskbar). And that's fine, except it does consume a little more screen real estate than we'd like. Shrink it to a more manageable size by right-clicking the Start orb, then Properties > Taskbar > Use small icons.

If you've no problem with the taskbar size, but find the way it combines icons to be confusing, then right-click the Start orb, click Properties > Taskbar and set "Taskbar buttons" to "Combine when taskbar is full" for a more familiar XP and Vista-style look.

Windows Vista 7 Logo4. Keyboard shortcuts
Windows 7 supports several useful new keyboard shortcuts.

Alt+P
Display/ hide the Explorer preview pane

Windows Logo+G
Display gadgets in front of other windows

Windows Logo++ (plus key)
Zoom in, where appropriate

Windows Logo+- (minus key)
Zoom out, where appropriate

Windows Logo+Up
Maximise the current window

Windows Logo+Down
Minimise the current window

Windows Logo+Left
Snap to the left hand side of the screen

Windows Logo+Right
Snap to the right hand side of the screen

Windows Logo+Home
Minimise/ restore everything except the current window

5. Customise UAC
Windows Vista's User Account Control was a good idea in practice, but poor implementation put many people off - it raised far too many alerts. Fortunately Windows 7 displays less warnings by default, and lets you further fine-tune UAC to suit your preferred balance between security and a pop-up free life (Start > Control Panel > Change User Account Control Settings).

6. Display your drives
Click Computer in Windows 7 and you might see a strange lack of drives, but don't panic, it's just Microsoft trying to be helpful: drives like memory card readers are no longer displayed if they're empty. We think it's an improvement, but if you disagree then launch Explorer, click Tools > Folder Options > View and clear "Hide empty drives in the computer folder" to get your empty drives back.

windows-7-logo7. Burn images
Windows 7 finally introduces a feature that other operating systems have had for years - the ability to burn ISO images to CDs or DVDs. And it couldn't be much easier to use. Just double-click the ISO image, choose the drive with the blank disc, click Burn and watch as your disc is created.

8. Speedy video access
Want faster access to your Videos folder? Windows 7 now lets you add it to the Start menu. Just right-click the Start orb, click Properties > Start Menu > Customize, and set the Videos option to "Display as a link". If you've a TV tuner that works with Windows 7 then you'll appreciate the new option to display the Recorded TV folder on the Start menu, too.

9. Run web searches
The Windows 7 search tool can now be easily extended to search online resources, just as long as someone creates an appropriate search connector. To add Flickr support, say, visit I Started Something [http://www.istartedsomething.com/flickrsearch], click Download the Connector, choose the Open option and watch as it's downloaded (the file is tiny, it'll only take a moment). A "Flickr Search" option will be added to your Searches folder, and you'll be able to search images from your desktop.

10. Explore everywhere
Launch Paint or Wordpad and you'll immediately spot the new Office-style ribbon interface, a real improvement in what were very dated applets. But other improvements are a little less obvious. At first glance the Windows calculator looks much the same, for instance, but the Mode menu leads to powerful new Statistics and Programmer views. And if you're clueless about bitwise manipulation, then try the Options menu instead. This offers many different unit conversions (length, weight, volume and more), date calculations (how many days between two dates?), and spreadsheet-type templates to help you calculate vehicle mileage, mortgage rates and more. Be sure to explore every menu option in Calculator and all the other Windows applets to ensure you don't miss anything important.

At the end many thanks for TechRadar for the useful information.

What's Inside?

The Dubai Mall is the largest mall in the world, it has the biggest indoor aquarium in the UAE and the 2nd in the world if I am not wrong, It has over than 1,200 shops, an Ice Ring, Water Falls, Cutting edge technology used as you can find LED screens on the floors, The fashion boulevard or section has a cat walk for live fashion shows for brands like Armani, Boss, burberry, Gucci, Galliano, Caballi and so many others... all these and much more that I cannot remember make the DxB mall by Emaar the hottest shopping spot in the world.

The Movie

Equipments & Softwares Used

This movie was shot with my Canon IXUS 860IS cybershot. Photography is my top hobby but Videography is what I am new at and looking forward to enhance my skills in shooting and so in editing. Using the iMovie by Apple to edit my movies, I am still learning all the features so I can get out the max of it.

The point isn’t the post. It’s entirely the comments. Come play and think.
